Our Statement of Faith
Adopted November 1, 2011 † God God is an eternal person who reveals Himself to us as a Holy Trinity. God is three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each person has distinct personal attributes yet abides in complete unity. God is a Trinity in unity. — Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Acts 5:3-4, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Ephesians 4:6, Hebrews 1:8 † Deity and Lordship of Christ Christ’s deity is revealed by His names. He is God, Son of God, Lord, King of kings, and Lord of lords. Before time began Christ was already in existence with God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Christ is fully man, fully God and is an equal person of the Trinity. He is a God-Man. All authority has been given to Christ over Heaven and Earth as Lord, and He is seated at the right hand of God. His authority is far above all spiritual forces. He is Lord over all. — Matthew 16:16, 22:43-45, 26:61-64a, 28:18-19; Mark 16:19; John 1:1-3, 14-15, 10:30, 13:13-14, 14:23; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Philippians 2:6-11; Ephesians 1:20-21; Hebrews 1:8; Revelation 19:16 † Plan of Salvation Salvation is the gift of God’s grace. It cannot be gained or secured by meritorious works, but is freely given to all who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. All who trust the Savior are forgiven of their sins and are born into the family of God by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. Salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. — John 1:12, 29; Acts 16:30-31; Romans 6:23, 10:9-10, 13; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9 † Bible
The Bible was written by men
divinely inspired by God and is the revelation to man. God is therefore the author of all
scriptures. It is without any mixture of
error. All scripture is a true and
trustworthy testimony to Christ who is the focus of divine revelation. — Exodus 24:4, John 5:39, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21 † Church The church is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers who observe the two ordinances of Christ — baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The church is under the Lordship of Christ. The scriptural offices are pastors and deacons. The church is also the body of Christ, which includes all the redeemed believers. The church gathers regularly together for corporate worship, prayer, study of the Word, fellowship and evangelism. Its purpose is to go and make disciples of all nations and to teach them to obey God. — Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-47, 6:3-6, 20:28; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, 12:12-13,27; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 3:1-15; 1 Peter 5:1-4 † Baptism Baptism is the immersion of a
believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Being baptized is an act of obedience
symbolizing the faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior; and also the
believer’s death, burial and resurrection. — Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22; Acts 2:41, 8:35-39, 16:30-33; Romans 6:3-5; Colossians 2:12 † Lord’s Supper The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience wherein believers of the body of Christ, the church, partake of the bread and the fruit of the vine. This symbolic act memorializes the death of the Redeemer and anticipates His return. — Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 10:16, 11:23-29 † The Christian’s Responsibility to Others The Christian is to live a Spirit-filled life and proclaim the Gospel to all people without reserve of color, race or current lifestyle. We are to serve others as Christ modeled servanthood. We are to serve fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and to help others. We are to uphold righteousness in a lost world. Christians are to love as Christ loves us. Each Christian is to use his/her spiritual gifts to serve. — Matthew 20:28, 28:19-20; John 13:3-17, 13:34-35; Ephesians 5:18-19; 1 Thessalonians 3:12; 1 Timothy 6:11-12; 1 Peter 4:10 |
