Being a Christian is not about religion but a relationship with Jesus Christ. Please take a moment and look below to see how you can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Q: In your personal opinion, what do you understand it takes for a person to get to heaven and have eternal life?

A: The Bible answers this question with a simple word, FAITH. Each letter of the word FAITH stands for a word.

Everyone has sinned and needs God's forgiveness.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." — Romans 3:23 (ESV)

God's forgiveness is in Jesus only.

"In Him [meaning Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace." — Ephesians 1:7 (ESV)

God's forgiveness is available for all.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16 (ESV)

God's forgiveness is available but not automatic.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven."— Matthew 7:21 (ESV)

According to the Bible, it is impossible to get to heaven on our own.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." — Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)

So how can a sinful person have eternal life and enter heaven?

T is for TURN

If you were going down the road and someone asked you to turn, what would he or she be asking you to do? (Change direction) Turn means repent. Turn away from sin and self.

"No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." — Luke 13:3 (ESV)

Turn to Jesus alone as your Savior and Lord.

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." — John 14:6 (ESV)

Here is the greatest news of all.

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved." — Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)

What happens if a person is willing to repent of their sins and confess Christ?

H is for HEAVEN

Heaven is a place where we will live with God forever.

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." — John 14:3. (ESV)

Eternal life begins now with Jesus

"I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" — John 10:10 (ESV)

H can also stand for how.

How can a person have God's forgiveness, eternal life, and heaven?

By trusting Jesus as your Savior and Lord.

You can pray a prayer like this Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe You died for my sin and only through faith in Your death and resurrection can I be forgiven. I want to turn from my sin and ask You to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen!
